Can you believe we are already in March of 2020? Time sure does fly when you’re having fun.
March is Reading Month across the nation. This is a great month to stress again the importance of reading to your young scholars. Reading to learn, for entertainment, or just information are great ways to build our own capacity. Research shows that if a student reads just 20 minutes a day starting in kindergarten, they will hear 1.8 million words per year. They will have read for 851 hours by 6th grade and on standardized tests, they will likely score better than 90% of their peers. This is why the 20 minutes of reading is a required part of our daily homework assignments.
