March is Reading Month. In an effort to celebrate, we are inviting you to come visit your child’s class during their SFA reading block. The event will take place on Thursday, March 19th from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m for 1st through 5th grade. For kindergarten parents, your time will be from 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. You will have an opportunity to see what your child does Monday through Friday in SFA.
On behalf of Jefferson Elementary and the local authorities here are a few safety reminders that will keep traffic moving efficiently and most of all keep our students safe
-
Students are expected to cross in the cross-walks at Cathedral and Hemingway as well as Westfield and Hemingway. Please follow traffic laws by not stopping your vehicle in the crosswalks or middle of the street. In addition, our safeties are doing a job that begins with safe and we ask that you serve as role models of what this looks like too are students.
-
If you are getting out of your car to pick up or drop off your child, please do not park in the car rider lane. It is important that you pull your vehicle up, drop off and have your child enter promptly so vehicles behind you can do the same.
-
Please be courteous and respectful to our neighbors by not parking in or in front of their driveways.
-
Finally, please be respectful of each other by following simple roadside manners and being courteous to your fellow Jefferson families.
No matter what, the camera is always on for adults. Children are always watching and they tend to model the behaviors that they see.
Have you noticed a pattern in your child’s teacher wardrobe each week? If not, maybe your child has. Inj the South Redford School District, on Mondays, we promote the importance of attendance by wearing our attendance t-shirts. On Wednesdays, we promote the next level of education - college and universities. On Fridays, we promote Eagle Pride by wearing school-related or South Redford spirit wear.
We would like to invite your child to do the same. Our attendance shirts are black with red, white, and green on them, therefore, your child could wear black, red, white, or green on Mondays. On Wednesdays, they could wear something with a college or university logo.
And on Fridays, well, we’re working on that one. In the next week or two, each class will work on designing a spirit shirt for Jefferson. A vote will be taken on a school shirt, we will get shirts made, and we will have shirts available for purchase in the front office. Please lookout for more details soon. In the meantime, feel free to wear South Redford navy blue and white on Fridays.
In closing, to all the moms, sisters, daughters, grandmothers, friends and colleagues, thank you for all that you contribute to this world. The world wouldn’t be what it is without you and is a better place because of you. Happy Woman’s History Month!
