Jefferson Weekly Update April 12, 2020

This is Mr. Kinsey updating you on a few announcements.

As we enter into our 5th week of not being in the physical presence of one another, please know that your Jefferson family is thinking about you daily.  As we learn to cope with the set of cards we’ve been dealt, we will continue to learn and grow and stay focused on what is in the best interest of our children.

This pandemic will cause our students to miss a quarter and half of the school year. For that reason, two weeks ago we launched our online learning platform, Freckle.  Freckle is the platform we are using to ensure students can continue their learning in Math, ELA, Social Studies and Science. We have already seen some great work being done in the program and look forward to seeing even more.  If your child has yet to log into their account, please do not wait any longer.

On another note, Freckle is the main program we use to ensure students do not miss out on core subject areas, however, in order to further enhance academic growth, our school district has also launched a program called Epic.  Epic is a program that offers free access to high-interest trade books. The books come in several different formats, read alongs, ebooks, videos, audiobooks, etc. Please check your email for a code to gain access to these books.

On April 3rd, several families came out to pick up a Chromebook.  Since then, many others have reached out inquiring about a second distribution.  You are in luck. The second distribution will occur this week at Jefferson Elementary only.  Please look for communication early this week on a day and time.  If your child is still in need of a Chromebook, please visit our website to fill out the form.  If you already filled out the form, no further action is needed.

Finally, we hope and pray that everyone is in good health, staying safe, and heeding the silver lining of togetherness with family during this time period.

Take good care
