Weekly Update

First, we would like to extend a special thank you to all families who made donations either by product or through time in last Tuesday’s Trunk or Treat.  We had an awesome turnout and it was exciting to see the smiles on our kids' faces.

This Thursday, November 5th from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. will be quarter 2 distribution.  The distribution will take place in our back parking lot in a drive-through format.  There will be two things occurring during this distribution, one, you will return books from the quarter 1 distribution, and two, pick up supplies for quarter 2.  The titles are as follows:

  • 3rd grade will return two books - Lon Po Po and Mufaro’s Beautiful Daughters
  • 4th grade will return one book - Charlotte’s Web
  • 5th Grade will return two books - Brown Honey in Broomwheat Tea and Hey World; Here I Am
  • Nothing needs to be returned for PreK through 2nd grade
  • Ms. Gleason's class will return all materials (file folders activities, card decks etc) related to Corduroy or The Little Old Lady Who Wasn't Afraid of Anything (with the exception of the adapted book- those can be kept)

Please make sure all titles are returned in order to avoid fees.

Next, the NED Show, which is a positive character education, live-streamed with Jefferson last Friday.  As part of the performance, students who attended learned about never giving up, encouraging others, and always doing your best.  In addition to those nuggets of wisdom, they also witnessed one of the most exciting parts -  fancy Yo-yo tricks.  Our school received this program at no-cost because another school community has paid-it-forward to us. Now it’s our turn—you can help by purchasing a NED-messaged yo-yo and accessories. A yo-yo is both a mindset tool and a tangible reminder of NED’s message. While learning to yo, children will make mistakes, try again, and improve.  You can access ordering information through Canvas or by clicking on the link here.

Finally, there will be no school for students on Tuesday for teacher professional development.  On Wednesday all learning will be asynchronous in Canvas, meaning students will not Zoom with their teacher unless arrangements have been made by your child’s teacher.  Normal schedules will resume on Thursday.
